Production

Before I start to talk about everything in regards to production, I have to start from the beginning and define the basic terms. Also I want to note that there will be a second part to the production stage.

Starting with defining the terms production, studio, representation, and streotype. Production is the process of or financial/administrative management involving the creation of a film/movie. A studio is basically a room where the production company uses to record television, make films, etc. The portrayal of someone/something in a particular way is known as representation. A stereotype is essentially a fixed idea of a person or thing.

A common question asked about movies is what category they fall in. By category I mean are they either a business, art or apart of entertainment. It is sort of obvious on why and how people make the common mistake of not knowing. What most people don't understand is that film (or movies) are apart of an industry, by this a better explanation would be that movies are produced by a business. That same business creates an art which is properly designed aiming at making money from entertainment. In regards to the cost to create one of these famous 'Hollywood movies', it could cost a lot of money also. On average, the total cost of making a major studio film is about $65 million. Even with this number it does not cover the cost of everything else. While it takes of production, distribution is another value added on total. Distribution which includes promoting and advertising can average about $35 million. Overall, the cost to create a Hollywood film is about roughly $100 million.

The four (common) stages of production are development, pre-production, production, and post-production. During the process of development, this is the time where the film's producers, director, and star cast members are signed on. These people are considered apart of development because this is when their attorneys assist with the contracts so that way everyone knows what exactly they are getting in to.
