Diegetic or Non Diegetic Sound
I want my film to feel like a classic romantic drama film. A film that no one has seen before but also reminds them of a previous one that they may have seen before. The look I want to go for is something that my viewers so "awww, that's so cute!" but at the same time make them go "woah wait a minute...WHAT!!!" As for the sound of the overall film, I want there to be sound but not too much to the point where it takes focus off the film itself. To achieve all of these looks and more that has been previously stated, I will put as much forth of the effort during the production of it all. From the shooting to the post production to the editing, I will stop at nothing to make my vision come to life and actually put it together on a screen.
For the purpose of this film project, I think I will record some sound. I wouldn't want it to be a silent film obviously but I do have some questions. One question I have is how exactly would I add the sound without it being too loud or too low? I most definitely will look into that and keep you guys updated. On the flip side, I want to use a diegetic AND a non diegetic sound. For diegetic sound, the characters in my film will have some lines and also speak to one another. There will be props in the back that music is playing from which will be obvious enough.
Shown below are some examples of the title sequences I had in mind:
