Distribution is the way in which something is shared out among a group or spread over an area. The promotion (also referred to as distribution) of company's film to the general public is the known job that a distribution company handles. Marketing is something in regards to the specific types of activities a company does to facilitate the sale of a product/service. A business may use a variety of techniques to promote their new film in any way possible. One example of said marketing ideas is merchandising. Merchandising is where a company sells its branded items in order to gain more promotion for the specific film. A company may also use a film festival or even cross promotion. Theatrical exhibition is the exhibition in commercial motion pictures theaters where the general public can watch the film for an admission fee. A producer and screenwriter are some of the most important people when it comes to creating a film. They have an innumerable amount responsibilities in order for the film to be at its best. A producer is a person who oversees film production. A producer has different responsibilities during different time periods of the production of the film. He/she works hard to raise investment and financing during the pre-production section of the film. While in the midst of all that, the producer organizes a creative team, reaches out to big name actors and producers. During the time of actual production, signs off on all of the crucial creative decisions, supervise all the production staff, and make sure the production is under budget. After the pre-production and production stage of the film next comes the post production.  Before I start to talk about everything in regards to production, I have to start from the beginning and define the basic terms. Also I want to note that there will be a second part to the production stage.  Starting with defining the terms production, studio, representation, and streotype. Production is the process of or financial/administrative management involving the creation of a film/movie. A studio is basically a room where the production company uses to record television, make films, etc. The portrayal of someone/something in a particular way is known as representation. A stereotype is essentially a fixed idea of a person or thing. A common question asked about movies is what category they fall in. The intended audience for my film are the average teenager. With the range from about 13 to around the age of 17. Another intended audience would be teenage girls specifically around the age of 14 or older. The reason I say I want to address this group of people is because I feel as though they will better understand the point I would like to get across and that they will also be more interested in the production of my film. I feel as though the audience around my age or even a few years older will enjoy it more than others. Although 13-17 is the intended, I feel as though some adults might also find my film interesting. Most teens moviegoing habits are seeing the trailer of a movie online, think its really good and interested. After that if they either decide to go see the movie in theaters themselves or plan to go with their friend group. These teens might find it very interesting and then refer to everyone else. I am having a bit of a hard time looking for other films that are a romantic drama. I have researched some romance genre films provided by YouTube. Based on what I have observed, I can almost conclude that the opening sequence should show both of the main female and male characters of the film. There also plenty of examples on YouTube which also shows some great examples of some of the drama film openings. One of the drama films do not necessarily show the faces of the character but it does show a close up shot of their hands. It shows the actions that the character proceeds to complete with their hands and follow every single movement. The filmmaker is also making sure that the audience sees simple things that hint to the overall plot that maybe the character is an undercover spy who poses as someone else.  The type of movie I am trying to create is a movie that will grab my viewers attention but at the same time make sure they understand what exactly it is I am trying to get across. I want to create a romantic drama genre film with a story line that everyone will get and comprehend well enough. Personally I enjoy a really good drama film with alogside something that makes viewers not know what to expect next. Although I am aware that not everyone enjoys the same thing I still intend on making this film enjoyable for everyone. While in the process of making this film, I would be aware that this will not go over the required time of 2 minutes. Some of the most common themes of a romantic drama are love at first sight, forbidden love, or even a tragic love. Personally, I would like to create a tragic love romantic drama.  This post is just the beginning of the production of the opening film project. I don't have everything mapped out to the fullest but I have an idea of which direction I want the film opening to head in. STEP 1: RESEARCH For the past few days now I have been conducting research about the film opening. I have also reviewed about 75 percent of the sample blogs provided to us. I have FINALLY narrowed down my options as it pertains to the genre. The two options I have for the genre is either drama or romance. STEP 2: GENRE For this part of the project, my plan is to take my last two options and take about a day to consider everything that comes with it. By this I mean I will create a chart that lists all of the pros and cons that are related to the specific genre.  The initial purpose of opening credits is to provide and present vital information to the audience/viewers. The opening credits of a film notify the viewers that the film was created by certain studios and/or specific production companies. They also let the audience know the names of all of the main stars in the cast list. One of the most common methods is opening credits.  Opening credits are typically shown at the start of the film, and shows and/or lists the most crucial  members of the production (which also includes the cast). To break it down and make things simplier, it is a list of credits shown one after another in the form of a list. These do not need to be seen on their won, but even after the film has begun, they can be an overlay.  On the contrary, a title sequence is a special scene which usually occurs before the film's actual scene begin.  We started the research portion of our portfolio this week. Creating the blog was a pretty fun experience for me considering the fact that this is still new to me. I have looked over and reviewed a HUGEEE amount of examples and past portfolios for this project. Reviewing the sample work provided was extremely helpful towards me and I hope that I can live up to the expectations of this project. So far, I've narrowed down some of the most important decisions to about 2 or 3 but I am still a little unsure of which ones to actually go with. For example the genre, I know that I don't want to do a musical of any sort that being said I am going to choose between drama and horror. Still a bit unsure of what kind of content I want to create and what meaning I want it to portray. It will be a huge help when I get a journal to write down all the little notes I believe are important.
